Seven Evil Spirits: Finding Our Way Back Into the Presence Of God

Here are 7 spirits that have I have seen in the scriptures.

Spirit of error 1 John 4:6

Spirit of slumber(ignorance/traditions) Romans 11:8

Spirit of the World 1 Corinthians 2:12

Spirit of Fear 2 Timothy 1:7

Spirit of the Anti Christ 1 John 4:3

Lying spirit Alma 30:42

Spirit of contention 3rd Nephi  11:29

Signs Follow Those that Believe:

The Lord stated " In my name shall they cast out devils". Through our ignorance we remain afflicted by such spirits. Its takes light and truth from God to cast out. It takes light and truth to continually protect our-self through Gods power but even than we will still become afflicted by evil. Ignorance is the opposite of light and truth. Ignorance is darkness and captivity. I'm at times amazed at peoples lack of desire to search into the mysteries of God and ignore the very things that will save them as if perhaps ignoring the problem will cause it to go away. We ignore truth, even if its out of fear or inability to see its importance, at our own peril.

Just because we cannot "see" something does not mean it doesn't exist. Just because we don't "think" something is afflicting us does not mean we are actually free from the bindings of these evil spirits that are constantly battling in war against all principalities, thrones, and dominions.

The Lord cast out seven spirits from a women. A "women who had been cured of evil spirits and diseases: Mary (called Magdalene) from whom seven demons had come out;" (Luke 8:2) This world is constantly at war. That war is between good and evil. For there is opposition in all things. 

There are many people who are constantly afflicted in ways that if they would be taught to not only protect themselves but cast out such spirits, curses, devices, or negative energies they could be relieved of the burdens they presently hold. 

All Spirit Is Matter:

5 (May 17th, 1843.) The more sure word of prophecy means a man’s knowing that he is sealed up unto eternal life, by revelation and the spirit of prophecy, through the power of the Holy Priesthood.
6 It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.
7 There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter, but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes;
8 We cannot see it; but when our bodies are purified we shall see that it is all matter.

The only thing that separates solid, liquid and gas is temperature or frequency. One is "hotter" than the substance below it. And by degrees you increase until one day you shall sit in a "burning of fire
 as the Seraphim sit worshiping God. It is no wonder why if we are not prepared to meet god, being a solid, we will not be able to reside in the presence of God where his presence is so terrible it will "burn us up as subtle". All spirit is matter. You just need purer eyes to see it and god said "the pure in heart shall see God". Joseph said the veil might as well be rent today if we were prepared to receive it. He also said god will bestow things as soon as we are ready to receive it. The only hindrance to our progression is ourselves. The inability to let God do his work within us. Only the humble and the meek will ever be able to let God do his work having no preconceived notions of how that should unfold. Being humble enough to do all things he asks of us.

“… A man is saved no faster than he gets knowledge, for if he does not get knowledge, he will be brought into captivity by some evil power in the other world, as evil spirits will have more knowledge, and consequently more power than many men who are on the earth. Hence it needs revelation to assist us, and give us knowledge of the things of God.”15

We will be brought into captivity by some evil power when we depart this life. This is why we are commanded to search into the mysteries of God because it is those mysteries that allow us to pass the sentinels that stand guard.

Finding Your Way Home:When you leave here, one of the obligations you have is to find your way back. In finding your way back, you need to be able to avoid those spirits who seek to bring you back into captivity. If you're brought back into captivity, you may find yourself again in a Telestial kingdom, or, as the temple narrative puts it: "the world in which you presently reside". That's a rather unpleasant thing to think about. Its almost the Lord was forewarning us when he said "if they would not repent they must suffer even as I" (D&C 19:17). How long that will last is dependent upon each individual. The Lords work continues "worlds without end". For "in the first place they were on the same standing with their brethren" if they would just "not harden their hearts" (Alma 13:5).
